Peter Simon, MD

Advisor (Urban Mapping)

Peter Simon is the retired Medical Director for the State of Rhode Island Division of Community, Family Health, and Equity. As a leader in pediatric environmental health research, he has long used geo- located datasets for studies of disease-prevention and screening interventions. Dr. Simon continues to use placemaking as a strategy to improve population health, in partnership with urban planners, and most recently has collaborated with faculty at the Roger Williams School of Architecture, as well as leaders of the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA). Dr. Simon serves on the board of the National Center for Healthy Housing, and the board of CityMatCH, which unites urban community leaders and health officials. He enjoys baseball, loves sailing, really loves a good nap, and now spends as much time as possible with his grandsons, Cameron and Zach.
